The ideal way to access this hawker center is via a "hike" along the Henderson Wave and Forest Walk through the Southern Ridges park. The walk from the eastern side of the Henderson Wave to Alexandra Village is approximately 3.5K and time involved depends upon how many photos you take. The Henderson Wave can be accessed via catching the 145 Bus from the Redhill Metro Station.
The Alexandra Village hawker centers comprises two parts hidden along Bukit Merah Lane 1. The first part, Block 120, resembles a traditional hawker center with the usual Chinese, Malay, and Indian fare. The second part, Block 119, makes the trek worthwhile. Four stalls offer upscale, hipster fare and two other stalls offer coffee and desert. |
Left to right the stalls are Stew Kuche, a German sausage stall; Two Wings, a fried chicken stall; Brown Sugar, coffee and drink stall; The Brickyard, after meal desserts stall; Seasalt, seafood stall; and Immanuel, a French cuisine stall. Prices are a little higher - four chicken wings from two wings costs $8 - however, the food is also upscale and still represents a good dining value. The blue and white checker clothed tables and red chairs complete the fancier than usual hawker dining environment. It's pleasant to witness new chefs experimenting with new cuisines in the historical hawker center environment.
After dinning its about a fifteen minute walk to the Queenstown Metro Station or catch one of the many buses heading in that direction.
These stalls are located at 119 Bukit Merah Lane 1. Not all are open for lunch so best to come for dinner.

SEASALT
I ordered the signature fish and chips for $9. Excellent batter although I regretted not ordering the higher quality fish for $13, as my fish was a bit flakier than I prefer. The salad and fries are enough of an accompaniment to complete a solid meal.

TWO WINGS
Great wings, prepared to order (so there's a bit of a wait), but why don't they have DRUMSTICKS!!!
