I know nothing about Spain which is a shame because I always loved learning about the conquistadors in school. My visit was limited to a long weekend back in 2009. I kid you not the flight base fare was $299, with taxes $327. It was part of some strange US Air special during March and April when tourist numbers haven't yet picked up. I jumped at the opportunity and it wound up being a great trip. I found a hostel at the far southern end of the beach. Although no one was flying US Air there was still a ton of tourists in Barcelona and I thought the best part of the city was just escaping the tourist areas, finding a cafe, ordering tapas, and watching the world pass.

BARCELONABarcelona has quite a few attractions. La Rambla is a major pedestrian thoroughfare. Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera are the two most famous buildings by famous local architect / artist Antoni Guadi. There is a large old town area, however, I'd be really hard pressed to leave the beach area on a future trip.

PAMPLONA
Per Pete:
"Known around the world for hosting one of the best festivals, Pamplona, is a quiet, historic valley town in the north of Spain. However, between July 6 - 14 it comes alive with hundreds of thousands of people coming to partake in Running of the Bulls. I was able to spend a day and a half here during the festival, but I wish I could have pulled a Hemingway-esq escape and spent the whole week."

IBIZA
Per Pete:
"Depending on how you see it, our time here was either spent very well or very poorly. Considering we didn't sightsee at all, because we were staying out til eight am and sleeping all day - mostly due to attending Privilege Nightclub which at the time was featuring DJ Tiesto."
