FEBRUARY
Unseasonably warm weather equals "Let's go to the playground!" The neighborhood kids were out in full force.
Daddy has been hatching a road trip plan up to Quakertown and Perkasie for years now. Would he be disappointed? Yes. But still glad we finally knocked this loop out. The QMart though...wow...what an impressive marketplace. Everything you would ever need plus a ton of restaurants. We could have been half a day in here chowing down and moving from one vendor to the next.
Perkasie has three breweries (Mystic Ways, Van Lieus, and Free Will) along with two great neighborhood taverns in The Perk and Rams Pint House, all lined up along Walnut Street. Many beer enthusiasts make the trek up to Perkasie and try them all. We just went with Rams Pint House, Mystic Ways, and Van Lieus on this trip, having already been to Free Will and The Perk.
The best part of these trips is how much more fun they are with Charlotte in tow. A six-part series called "Charlotte and the Dodger Hat".
For Valentine's Day Dad went out and bought a bunch of cards thinking this would suffice for the preschool card exchange - Dad should be embarrased with himself as most of the other parent's went all out - one parent had gift cards to a play zone, another made crayons in the letters of the classmates' names. Next year Dad will start planning weeks in advance. Lobster dinner with the little ladies.
We went from running around on the playground to building snowmen - of course the snowman in Lola and Papa's front yard is a big Phillies fan.
During the cold days Dad took Charlotte to "Playground Ikea" and when we needed a change of pace to "Playground Barnes & Noble". Charlotte is walking out with two St. Patrick's Day books. A more serious, work-related side to the usually playful Charlotte Hamill.
It was cold but let's head into Philadelphia for a quick loop around City Hall. Dad made a mental note that Charlotte is becoming a bit heavy to carry. What's that? The train! Charlotte is fascinated with the Allegheny Train Stop. We grabbed an egg waffle in Chinatown then walked around the Reading Terminal Market like we owned the place.
Charlotte loves sleeping curled up in the width of her bed. And she also loves chocolate pudding. Really all things chocolate.
MARCH
Walking around (or playing hide and seek) at REI on a rainy Saturday. Followed by a roast beef sandwich at Ye Olde Ale House - will need to bring Uncle Pete here when he is back in town.
And let's go to Roxborough. Dad gets the itch every few weeks and he needs to check in to see how things are over in Roxborough - on a gorgeous March day, where else would we rather spend time?
Flora's birthday party - hanging out with Maria and Kennedy from school. I don't know what is being said in that third photo but I imagine it has something to do with climbing to the top of the slide below.
It's not even the first day of Spring and we are already having Rita's.
St. Patrick's Day in Conshohocken. Next year we will need to tell the 5K race organizers they need an under 3-year-old division.
Just when we were about to cancel Lovevery, a kit includes a functioning sink. Charlotte was thrilled.
Meeting the Easter Bunny at the Lulu Shriners Club.
Family photo and finding as many eggs as she could - go Charlotte!
Easter Sunday. That sneaky but clever Easter Bunny. Hides the basket but knowing this was Charlotte's first time searching for an Easter Basket left a clues in the form of a 1 to 10 count up to lead her to the Easter Basket.
And another Easter Egg hunt at Lola and Papa's. She found all the eggs.
Can you tell what Charlotte's favorite Easter present was?
Beginning with the March 29th weekend, a page called Spring 2024 began to capture the season's major weekend events. The day-to-day activities continue to be tracked here.
APRIL
April 8, 2024 - a date that had been circled on calendars years in advance as portions of the U.S. would experience a total eclipse. We'd have a partial eclipse in Conshohocken, which would have been exciting enough, if not for all...the...clouds.
Lola brought Charlotte a matching beret from her travels in France. Then it was off to Lion's Pride Park to burn off some energy.
