Texas holds the distinction of being the only country that then became a state...and believe me Texans know this. I watched a video of the state's history in Austin and the video bordered on indoctrination vs. information.
That said I like Texas. The state has a bravado and walks the talk to back up their claims (unlike all the other southern states - which is why in spirit I think Texas is southwest not south). Dallas. San Antonio. Austin. Amazing. Houston traffic. Ugh. |

Beyond the big cities Texas some great small towns:
Amarillo
Amarillo is home to two sites: The Big Texan Steakhouse and The Cadillac Ranch. Both are must stops while traveling along I-40. A mile down from The Cadillac Ranch is the Second Amendment Cowboy.
