On a short cross country trip Indianapolis was a first stop. Pete and I took a tour of the Indianapolis 500 and moved on. Seems to be a gap - may need to catch a flight to Indy some weekend with a stop in Cincinnati too. I'm going to do a COVID Midwest City tour in 2021 - spend a few nights in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati. Book it!
INDIANA DUNES STATE PARK
My dad and I spent a night in Michigan City - the only reason to spend a night in Michigan City is that you didn't realize that if you are visiting Notre Dame for a football game you either need to book a hotel room a year in advance or be willing to pay $250 for a night in a crappy Airbnb. We went with the third option - Michigan City. It's a gritty lake front town...but even here, we were able to find a hipster microbrewery. The other advantage to staying here was that we were able to wake up early and check out Indiana Dunes State Park. Cold, cloudy, November weather...it made it even better. Just a great eerie feel to this place.
