Tracking Halloween costumes and trick-or-treating through Charlotte's first years.
HALLOWEEN 2023 - SHE KNOWS WHAT TO DO
I was scrolling through Halloween costumes at Target.com on my laptop. Charlotte pointed at a lion costume and roared...that was easy. I picked up a pith hat, put on my red safari shirt (insect repellant built-in), and tossed binoculars around my neck and we were good to go. Charlotte enrolled in daycare a few weeks earlier and a day I had been looking forward to finally arrived: the school's Halloween parade. Mom, Dad, Lola, and Papa all gathered at the Goddard School eagerly awaiting the pre-toddlers to make their appearance.

Charlotte has become adept at sorting and picking up items to put in buckets. Even so it did come as a bit of a surprise as to how quickly see picked up trick-or-treating. Reach you hand into one bucket, grab some packages, put it in my bucket? It didn't take long for her to become a master. Instead of explaining how to treat-or-treat, we spent much of the night telling her to not grab so much candy. What made this night wonderful, however, was the fact that Charlotte did not know exactly what she was grabbing so no fussing at the end of the night when she didn't get to keep the candy she collected.

There isn't a better place in the area for trick-or-treating than Conshohocken. In particular, the 10th, 11th, and 12th Avenue blocks go all out. Complete Halloween-related mayhem. People decorate their homes for Halloween the way other neighborhoods decorate for Christmas. There's no holding back. After a walk up 5th Avenue, we headed over the big leagues on 10th.

HALLOWEEN 2022 - CHARLOTTE'S FIRST HALLOWEEN
Charlotte was born on 2.2.22, aka Ground Hogs Day. I found a Ground Hog cap on Etsy and a bear romper stood in for her fur. Joyce and I wore top hats as to be the Punxsutawney Phil officials.
