KIEV
Per Pete:
"Kiev, Ukraine's capital and largest city, has a lot going for itself. It is a European city on the rise and recently held the 2012 Eurocup. It became an independent country following the USSR collapse in 1991. With that in mind, there is a lot of mixed history of both Ukraine and Russia. Kiev was a fun city and you could feel a buzz walking around town. It's interesting walking around town - people speak Ukranian yet most of their signs are written in Cyrillic, so nothing looks quite the same as the Western style."

CHERNOBYL
Per Pete:
"Chernobyl is home to one of the world's worst nuclear accidents - the power plant's reactor four blew up on April 26, 1986. The contamination has effected hundreds of thousands of people and is still widely considered to be not completely contained. There is no exact number of victims. There are several tour companies offering Chernobyl day trips from Kiev - I used www.tour2chernobyl.com."
