EUROPE
I am saving my European travels for a later date. From a traveler's perspective I can't argue against the allure of London, Paris, Madrid, and Rome, their culture and history, and traveler friendly infrastructure. With a limited time frame or resources, I would certainly head to Europe over Asia. However, I have taken a long term view of travel - I think Asia will experience the most significant change in my lifetime so I have headed to this part of the world to try and catch a glimpse of the continent, before, during, and after the changes. For me London, Paris, Madrid, and Rome, etc. will change but still retain the core of what defines those cities. Basically...I'd rather travel through Asia in my 30s - 40s and Europe in my 40s+ than vice versa.

My European travels have been limited to a three-week study abroad trip my senior year in college and work assignments. I've only ever taken two vacations - a ten day trip through Iceland and a long weekend in Barcelona. The work assignments are fantastic because they provide a different perspective and insight into the local culture you wouldn't otherwise receive simply visiting sites and dining out.
In summary - there's not much info on Europe, that's by design in the short-term, but over the long-term this section will be more robust. If anyone would like to add information or photos to these sections please let me know.

THE BALKANS
An historically turbulent area of the world with a toooon of history. All of that history is present as you travel through from the Romans to World War One to the breakup of Yugoslavia to the bombing of Sarajevo. The cities (Sofia, Belgrade, Sarajevo, Dubrovnik, Zagreb) are all fun to explore and cafe/bar hop between their attractions.

EASTERN EUROPE
NORDIC
WESTERN EUROPE
France, Italy, Spain, Germany, England...these tend to be the first places people think of when they begin planning an international trip - I can't disagree. I love Hong Kong but it's not London or Paris. China and India are amazing but they are not France or Italy. I've been very fortunate that my career provided several opportunities for work assignments in Western Europe and I've been able to interact with locals in a professional environment. At some point I'll head to Western Europe and cover this area in more detail...but that's a long time off.
