Ireland was the first of my international work assignments and opened a new career path for me that would allow me to combine a profession I enjoy - auditing - with one of my passions - traveling. There are instances in which I enjoy traveling for work more so than traveling for pleasure. When traveler for work you have a much more intimate local experience and take notice to many of the minor differences country to country. Each country seems to have a different take on office supplies and for some bizarre reason I developed a fascination with European staplers.
Dublin has a compact city center - if you aren't staying in the center there are a few bus routes that can bring you into town. I spent most of my time on the South Side of the River Liffey taking in the tourist sites. One weekend the audit team drove down to Blarney Castle - I kissed the stone and have been blessed with the gift of gab ever since.
